What rules apply to children with cold symptoms?

Baden-Württemberg Children with a slight cold or cough are allowed to go to school or daycare. Children who are clearly ill (fever, dry cough) must stay at home. If their state of health continues to deteriorate, please call a pediatrician or pediatrician. He/she will decide whether a Covid test is necessary.
Bavaria In Bavaria, a 3-stage system applies. The local health authorities decide which level applies at the moment. Children with a cold without fever are allowed to go to school/kita at level 1 and 2. At level 3, children with mild symptoms of illness may only go to school/kita with a negative Covid test. Children with typical Covid symptoms must stay at home.
Berlin Children with simple symptoms such as a cold or a slight cough are allowed to go to school or daycare. As soon as a child does not feel well, the symptoms become more severe or fever is added, the child must stay at home or be picked up and stay at home for at least 24 hours. If the child's state of health continues to deteriorate, please contact a paediatrician. He/she will decide whether a covid test is necessary.
Brandenburg Children with symptoms of illness should always stay at home. For the symptoms typical for Covid, such as dry cough and fever, children must definitely stay at home. Doctors decide whether a Covid test should be carried out.
Bremen Children with fever above 38 degrees, severe cough and flu-like symptoms must stay at home. It is then recommended to contact the paediatrician. As soon as the child has been symptom-free for 24 hours, he or she is allowed to return to the day care centre/school. Children with a simple cold and occasional cough can continue to attend the day care centre/school.
Hamburg Children with a cold without additional signs of illness are allowed in the day care centre/school. In case of fever above 38 degrees and dry cough, please contact a doctor by telephone. This doctor will then decide whether a covid test is necessary. As a general rule, children who are clearly ill must not go to the day care centre/school.
Hesse Children who are clearly ill are not allowed to attend the Kita/school. If children are ill at the Kita/School, they must be picked up by their parents. In case of fever, dry cough and impaired sense of taste, the school/kita may not be entered. However, a cold without further signs of illness is no reason to stay at home.
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Children with simple symptoms such as a cold or a slight cough are allowed to go to school or daycare. As soon as a child does not feel well, the symptoms become more severe or fever is added, the child must stay at home or be picked up and stay at home for at least 24 hours. Lower Saxony Children with simple symptoms, such as a cold or a slight cough, are allowed to attend school/nursery. As soon as a child does not feel well and the symptoms are stronger, he or she must stay at home. A doctor will decide whether a Covid test is necessary. After 48 hours without symptoms, the child can go back to school/nursery if he/she has had no contact with a person who is proven to be ill with Covid.
North Rhine-Westphalia Children with a cold and without further symptoms should be observed at home for 24 hours, the school must be notified. If the symptoms improve and there are no additional symptoms, the child can go back to school. If there is no improvement and there are additional symptoms, the school and the doctor should be contacted.
Rhineland-Palatinate Children with simple symptoms, such as a cold or a slight cough, are allowed to attend school/nursery. If a child does not feel well or the symptoms are more severe, he or she must stay at home. In principle, parents can wait until the child is fully recovered or call for medical advice. The doctor will decide whether a Covid test should be carried out.
Saarland Children with simple symptoms, such as a cold or a slight cough, are allowed to attend school/nursery. As soon as a child does not feel well and/or the symptoms are stronger, he or she must stay at home. A doctor will decide whether a Covid test should be carried out.
Saxony Children with symptoms such as coughing, fever, diarrhoea or vomiting are not allowed to go to school. If they show these symptoms for more than 2 days, they are not allowed back to school until they have been without symptoms for 2 days.
Saxony-Anhalt Children with unspecific symptoms, i.e. fever-free with a slight cold or inconspicuous cough, do not have to stay at home. If the symptoms are more severe, they should not go to school. In this case a visit to a doctor is recommended. In case of a negative covid test or no test at all, the child can go back to school and daycare after 24 hours without fever.
Schleswig-Holstein Children with simple symptoms such as a cold or a slight cough are allowed to go to school/nursery. As soon as a child does not feel well and/or the symptoms are more severe, such as fever, a stronger cough or loss of sense of smell/taste, he or she must stay at home. A doctor will decide whether a Covid test should be carried out. If this does not have to be done or if it turns out negative, the child can return to school/nursery as soon as he/she is healthy.
Thuringia Children with simple symptoms, such as a cold or a slight cough, are allowed to attend school/nursery. As soon as a child does not feel well and/or the symptoms are stronger, he or she must stay at home. A doctor will decide whether a Covid test should be carried out. If it is not necessary or if it turns out negative, the child can return to school as soon as he or she is healthy.
